That was an interesting experience, I must say. I was fortunate enough to avoid the effects of that flood from before. I find it strange to think that we are so malleable that we might forget ourselves like that.

[He has it hidden away in his room, but his mind's eye thinks of the Apple right away.]

Few things in any world have that sort of power. But it begs the question if any of you have experienced something like that prior to arriving on this nave?

Lots of ways. Most recently a mutant, with the power ta basically reconstruct reality, decided ta put the universe in a box, and make a small island of reality where she could make an existence for someone that, she thought, would make him happy.

Didn't make a lot of other folks very happy. Me included.

Sorry, Ah'm not really used ta people not already havin' some idea what Ah mean.

A mutant is basically just what it sounds like. We're humans that have a genetic mutation. But in the context Ah mean, those mutations are pretty powerful and startlin'. Some can fly, have super strength, create and form ice, change their shape, and so on.

[Ezio doesn't understand all of it, but he understands enough to get the gist. And also to get the impression that Leonardo would likely be fascinated by all of this.]

That sounds incredible! Are you one?

[Seeing as that isn't the usual response she gets when this sort of thing comes up (outside the Barge anyway), it gets a wide, amused smile from her.]

That Ah am, sugah.

[Ezio's grin is equally wide. All these beautiful women with these special skills. The Barge truly is a remarkable place. sigh sigh]

And what sorts of things are you able to do?

[Even to other mutants, her power can seem scary. Because it can be. But she's not ashamed of who she is anymore, and the Barge is full of remarkable people. No sense in candy coating it.]

Ah can absorb thoughts, memories, skills, and powers of another person, through touch.

[Ezio is not really afraid of that. If anything, it's quite the opposite and he's impressed.]

If you don't mind my asking of you as well, where it is that you're from? I've never heard your accent before.

[She laughs, because usually the accent is pretty distinct. He must be from a "when".]

America, state of Mississippi, originally, planet Earth. Sound at all familiar?

I'm afraid I've never heard of America, much less Mississippi.

[Even if he was hooking up with Amerigo's cousin.]

[Wow, a really far back when!]

Well, one outta three ain't too bad. Hang on, honey.

[She gets up and disappears for a moment. Coming back, she has a large book in her hands, which she flips through quickly until she finds the page she wants. Then she turns the whole thing around for him to see. It's a flattened map of the world as of the early 21st century.]

This is America. [She points over the top of the book at the appropriate country. And then more specifically, she finds where her state is and points there.] And this is round about where Mississippi is.

Vedo! I recognize some of the lands on your map. [He can see Italy, for example, though he thinks of it more as a region than country.] But I have never seen where you're from on a map before.

Probably hasn't been discovered yet. That officially happens in 1492.

Four more years then! [Even Ezio can get somewhat excited over that.] Though I am not likely to see them for myself.

Actually, yer chances are good that ya will. We've stopped in Los Angeles for port before. That's over here.

[There's L.A....kinda. It's not that big of a map. She's guessing.]

That seems far from your home. America is quite vast. [Bigger than anything he's ever really known.] I imagine this port was closer to your time than mine though.

As far as Ah could tell. Different universe though. That one didn't have mutants.

That must have been a strange experience for you then.

[It'd probably be like a port in Florence without the Assassin presence for Ezio at this point.]

Maybe a little, but not in a bad way.

That has been much of my experience here. Much of the technology is nothing like I've ever seen until now.
